Drinking in Calgary parks could come as early as next summer

Calgarians may soon be able to enjoy a cold beer in public parks.

The City of Calgary launched an online survey Thursday to ask residents whether they think people should be allowed to drink alcohol in green spaces. If the public response is positive, the city could launch a pilot project as early as summer 2019.

The pilot project would require alcohol to be consumed with food and would limit drinking to picnic sites.

Calgary residents have until Jan. 31 to fill out the survey.
